Example scenario · illustrative, not a real seller
An example Level 1 seller sells new sneakers for $150 on StockX. A 9% transaction fee and 3% processing take $18.00, leaving $132.00. A worn pair from the same closet can’t go on the Verified Marketplace at all.

- Which StockX marketplace takes which condition.
- Seller levels and transaction fees.
- Three worked payouts, including the minimum fee.
- Checks before listing.
- When StockX is the right channel.
StockX's main marketplace is new-only
StockX is often the first place sneaker and streetwear sellers look, because prices are visible and buyers trust the verification step. Before you list anything, though, check its condition rules. StockX's help article on item condition, checked November 8, 2026, says items on its Verified Marketplace must be brand new. A lightly worn pair of sneakers doesn't belong there, however clean.
This guide covers the condition rules across StockX's marketplaces, the seller fees from its fees article, and how to work out what a sale leaves you.
StockX's marketplaces and conditions
| Marketplace | Conditions StockX describes |
|---|---|
| Verified Marketplace | Brand new only; sneakers need their original box, with a B-Grade option for some box issues |
| Listings Marketplace | New, New – Other, and Used |
| Live Marketplace | New and Used |
StockX's fee article says the Listings and Live marketplaces are open to select sellers and had no standard seller fees at launch. Most resellers start on the Verified Marketplace, so the rest of this guide focuses there.
Verified Marketplace seller fees
| Seller level | Requirement StockX lists | Transaction fee |
|---|---|---|
| Level 1 | Starting level | 9% |
| Level 2 | 12 sales or $1,500 in a quarter | 8.5% |
| Level 3 | 40 sales or $5,000 | 8% |
| Level 4 | 200 sales or $25,000 | 7.5% |
| Level 5 | 800 sales or $100,000 | 7% |
On top of the transaction fee, StockX charges a 3% payment processing fee. The fee article also gives a US minimum seller fee of $5.
Worked examples
These are chosen examples for a Level 1 seller in the US. Shipping costs and any other charges are left out for simplicity.
A $150 sale. Transaction fee 9% × $150 = $13.50. Processing 3% × $150 = $4.50. Fees total $18.00, leaving $132.00.
A $40 sale. Transaction fee 9% × $40 = $3.60, processing $1.20, total $4.80. That's below the $5 minimum, so on StockX's stated minimum the fee would be $5, leaving $35.00.
The same $150 sale at Level 3. 8% is $12.00, plus $4.50 processing: $16.50 in fees, $1.50 more in your pocket than at Level 1. Levels matter most for sellers with steady volume.
Step 1: Confirm the item qualifies
Before listing on the Verified Marketplace:
- Is it brand new and unworn?
- For sneakers, is the original box present?
- Does the product match the exact style code and size you'll select?
If an item has been tried on outdoors or worn, it's a used item. StockX's Listings Marketplace takes used items, but only for select sellers, so for most people a used pair belongs on a different platform. The GOAT guide and the Grailed guide cover two used-friendly options.
Step 2: Check authenticity before you buy to resell
StockX verifies items, which protects buyers, not your purchase price. If you buy a pair that turns out to be fake, the loss is yours. The authenticity before price manual and the sneakers guide explain checks to do at the point of purchase.
Step 3: Price from recent sales, then subtract fees
Work out your floor from fees, shipping and what you paid. The sourcing ceiling tool runs this in reverse: start from a likely sale price and see the most you can pay for the pair.
Fee base: StockX's percentages above apply to the sale. Read the fee article for how shipping and any regional charges are handled in your country before relying on a quick estimate.
Step 4: Ship exactly as instructed
Items go through StockX's verification process, so packaging and timing instructions matter. Follow the shipping steps StockX gives at the time of sale; a pair that arrives late or with the wrong box can fail.
Step 5: Track your level
Because transaction fees step down with volume, count your quarterly sales. A seller close to 12 sales or $1,500 in a quarter may reach Level 2's 8.5% with a few more sales.
When StockX is the right channel
StockX makes most sense for deadstock pairs and sealed streetwear with an exact style code, where buyers are searching for that specific product and size. It makes less sense for one-off vintage pieces, items without a style code, or anything with a flaw. In this chosen comparison, a new pair that would sell for $150 on StockX leaves $132.00 at Level 1. If a local buyer would pay $140 in cash, the local sale leaves more but takes a meetup and carries the authenticity question yourself. Run both before you decide.
Common mistakes
- Listing worn or tried-on pairs on the Verified Marketplace.
- Forgetting the 3% processing fee on top of the transaction fee.
- Ignoring the $5 minimum on low-priced items.
- Assuming StockX's verification will cover a fake you bought.
- Shipping without the original box.
New goes to StockX
StockX's Verified Marketplace is for brand-new items with their original packaging, and its fees run from 9% plus 3% downward with volume. Used pairs need a different home.
