Example scenario · illustrative, not a real seller
An example pair has the right-looking box but two different size labels inside. The discount is not your first question anymore. Resolve the pair before trying to turn its brand name into a margin.
What you’ll get
- Separate a matching model code from an authenticity conclusion.
- Inspect both shoes and included packaging.
- Calculate the buy ceiling only after the item clears your checks.
Inspect a pair, not a brand story
Read both interior labels and compare the actual sizes, model details and construction. Check that the shoes belong together. A box can be switched; its label does not establish what is inside.
Photograph outsole wear, heel lining, insoles where accessible, closures and defects. Do not conceal uneven wear with a favorable angle. A visual inspection also does not establish that aging materials will remain structurally sound; stop when condition or safety cannot be responsibly resolved.
Keep authenticity separate from appearance
A matching code is useful for research, but it is not a certificate. Use reliable product documentation and the applicable marketplace's current authenticity requirements. Do not copy another seller's authentication claim or imply you used a service you did not use.
If you cannot support the item identity and authenticity sufficiently for the proposed route, do not buy it for resale. Calling something unverified or a replica is not a general exemption from law or platform policy.
Worked example: a $37 ceiling is not an appraisal
Choose a hypothetical $90 receipts assumption, $28 for all non-acquisition costs and a $25 desired operating remainder. The maximum acquisition spending is $90 − $28 − $25 = $37 before any omitted cost.
The $90 must be tested against relevant sold comparisons for the exact model, size and condition. A $60 asking price from another seller is not a completed sale; a new pair is not automatically comparable with a worn pair. None of these chosen figures promises a market value.
Describe what is included and what changed
State whether the original box or extra laces are included only if you know that. Disclose cleaning, repairs and condition limitations accurately. Match the photographs to the final description after any preparation.
The buying ceiling is the last gate, not the first. A low enough price cannot repair a mismatched pair, unsupported authenticity claim or unsafe item.

Practical questions
Does a matching model code prove sneakers are authentic?
No. It is an identification clue, not authentication. Packaging, labels and visible details can be copied or mixed; unresolved authenticity uncertainty is a reason to stop.
Can I sell an uncertain pair by calling it a replica?
Do not assume a disclaimer makes a counterfeit or unauthorized product lawful or platform-permitted. Check the applicable rules and do not pass unresolved authenticity risk to a buyer.
