Example scenario · illustrative, not a real seller
The example shelf holds a jacket, a game and a mystery electronic device. Their low prices look comparable; the evidence needed to sell each responsibly is not.
What you’ll get
- Choose a category you can actually inspect.
- Match category-specific research to the physical item.
- Reject a buy before price becomes the distraction.
Categories are different inspection problems
Sneakers need pair identity and condition evidence. Vintage clothing needs support for age claims as well as present measurements. Books require edition and contents checks; games require a component count. An attractive category name cannot do that work for an individual object.
The guides below cover the item-specific decisions currently published. This hub does not invent profit rankings or imply that every product in a popular category is suitable for resale.
Worked example: compare unresolved work
The table is a hypothetical screening note. The jacket has three research questions, the game two and the device four. These counts are not risk scores: one unresolved safety problem can be enough to reject an item regardless of how many boxes are complete.
Choose the project you can responsibly resolve with your knowledge, tools and time. Do not select the device merely because another seller advertises a high asking price.
Route the item before calculating its margin
Use the appropriate category guide, then the authenticity, recall or repair manual when needed. Only after those gates should you set a buying ceiling using relevant comparisons and actual fulfilment costs.
What to flip begins with what you can establish. If a material fact stays unknown, passing is a complete decision rather than a failure to find a bargain.

Practical questions
What is the best thing to flip?
There is no universal winner established here. Choose items you can identify, inspect, lawfully offer and fulfil at a price supported by relevant evidence.
Are category lists appraisals?
No. A category label does not establish the value, safety or authenticity of an individual item. Use the linked inspection and cost methods.
