Read your actual seller terms
Fees may depend on category, subscription, payment method, advertising choice and country. Some are calculated on shipping or other amounts as well as item price. Review the current official fee schedule for the account you use. This site deliberately does not publish a fixed marketplace fee table.
Build the cost stack
Include acquisition, incoming transport, repairs, cleaning, packaging, outgoing shipping and fixed charges. Allocate relevant recurring costs consistently in your records. Include the time spent sourcing, photographing, messaging and handling returns. Count returned or unsold goods when reviewing the business overall.
Use the right denominator
Our profit tool reports a cash-cost ROI using the non-fee cash costs you enter. That ratio is not an annual investment return. Hourly profit divides by your entered hours and excludes income taxes. A large percentage on a tiny item can still produce little cash for the time involved.
Compare carefully
The editable fee tool assumes the same fee base for both options. If actual rules differ, calculate each separately. A lower fee does not guarantee better buyer demand, price or protection. Recheck platform terms before making a listing or accepting an offer.
Why can two sellers report different profit on the same sale price?
Acquisition cost, fee arrangements, shipping, advertising, returns and time can all differ. One seller may also be quoting revenue rather than profit. Rebuild the calculation from your own transaction instead of treating someone else's margin as an expected outcome.
