Running the operation

Review resale operations using complete transaction records, active time, cash commitments and manageable stock rather than sales totals alone.

Example scenario · illustrative, not a real seller

Your example dashboard shows a busy week, but the packing table is blocked and the bank transfer includes old sales. Activity is not a complete picture of the operation.

What you’ll get

  • Distinguish receipts, payout and operating remainder.
  • Count travel and active work.
  • Choose a capacity change only after seeing the bottleneck.

Close the ledger before opening another channel

Keep receipts, withheld costs, separately paid costs and bank transfers distinct. A payout can be accurate and still not represent profit. The payout bridge manual shows how to reconstruct the difference without deducting a cost twice.

Then record active time beyond photographing and packing: sourcing, travel, testing, messages and reconciliation can all consume the hours available to run the operation.

Worked example: five hours, not one packing hour

Choose two hours for sourcing and travel, two for inspection and listing, and one for fulfilment and reconciliation. The total is five active hours. Dividing an operating remainder by only the last hour would describe a different, incomplete workload.

These durations are hypothetical. They are not an earnings claim or a benchmark for what a seller should achieve.

Expand a proven capability, not an unresolved backlog

If listings stall because identity checks are difficult, more stock increases that work. If sold items cannot be found, another selling channel adds commitments to the same retrieval problem. Resolve the actual bottleneck first.

Scale the process you can explain. Use your own complete records to decide whether another purchase, tool or workflow change is justified, and keep essential cash commitments protected.

Practical questions

Does a high sales total prove the business is healthy?

No. Acquisition, fees, fulfilment, returns, time and cash tied in stock can change the result. A dashboard total is only one piece of evidence.

Should I scale after one good sale?

A single outcome does not establish a reliable process. Review repeated complete cycles, downside costs and your capacity before committing more cash or obligations.
