Your first Poshmark listing starts with the actual garment

Prepare a Poshmark garment listing with actual measurements, defects, the dated US fee boundary and a current packing plan.

Example scenario · illustrative, not a real seller

Your example cardigan has a readable size tag but a shortened sleeve and a loose button. A bright cover photo does not resolve either. The first listing has to describe the garment that will leave your house.

What you’ll get

  • Build the garment facts before choosing an asking price.
  • Apply the correct side of the US fee boundary.
  • Prepare packaging for the current label service.

Write down what the photographs must prove

Inspect underarms, cuffs, closures, seams and lining before taking the cover image. Note the tagged size separately from flat measurements. For an altered sleeve, explain the alteration if known and show its present length rather than assuming the original sizing still tells the whole story.

Keep the description concrete: which button is loose, whether a spare is included, and where the wear appears. Do not call an item new or flawless because its front panel photographs well.

Price the actual garment, not the label alone

Use comparable items with relevant condition and measurements. Then check the selling costs and any discount you intend to fund. A brand name does not establish demand, authenticity or an achievable price.

As of November 8, 2026, Poshmark's US getting-started guide states a $2.95 standard fee below $15 and 20% at $15 or above. Read the linked source for current applicability. Shipping discounts and label upgrades are separate considerations, not included acquisition costs.

Worked example: the boundary is inclusive

The table uses chosen item prices. A $14 sale has the published $2.95 fee; a $15 sale has a $3 fee; a $30 sale has a $6 fee. These are seller-fee illustrations, not predictions that the cardigan will sell at any of those prices.

Subtract your actual acquisition and other seller-funded expenses after that. Do not add buyer-paid platform shipping to your own sale receipts in the standard scenario.

Pack for the current label, not an old video

Poshmark's official September 2025 update moved standard shipping to USPS Ground Advantage and says not to use Priority Mail packaging for that service. Use suitable non-Priority packaging and check the actual label details.

Inspect the garment again when it sells and match all included items. A buyer should learn the important condition facts before purchase, not while opening the parcel.

Practical questions

Does a tagged size replace measurements?

No. Tags and actual garment dimensions answer different questions. Wear, alteration and category sizing can affect the fit a buyer expects.

Can I use the old Priority Mail packing advice?

Not for the current standard Ground Advantage label. Poshmark announced the service and packaging change in September 2025; check the current label and official instructions.
