Example scenario · illustrative, not a real seller
The cover photograph of an example camera looks sharp, but the battery door and scratched screen are never shown. More attractive images would not answer those missing questions.
What you’ll get
- Give each photograph a factual job.
- Use detail views for defects and identifiers.
- Review privacy and accuracy before uploading.
Start with the buyer's unanswered questions
Show what the item is, what comes with it and where condition differs from a new example. A clear overall image helps orientation; detail images establish the model, parts and defects.
Use consistent light and a stable position. Check focus and color against the physical item. Avoid filters or edits that hide wear, change a material color or imply an accessory is included when it is not.
Worked example: six views, three purposes
Choose two overall images, two identity-and-parts images and two defect images. That makes six views in this hypothetical plan. If the damage needs a scale reference, add an appropriate view rather than claiming the count is complete.
This is not a platform photo requirement or measured conversion strategy. eBay's official listing guide recommends showing actual angles and imperfections; apply the evidence principle without inventing a universal number.
Check the frame before publishing
Remove labels, addresses, financial papers and other private information from the background. Then compare the images with the title, condition and description. Photographs should corroborate those claims, not contradict them.
A useful photograph can make a flaw easier to see. That is successful disclosure even when it makes the item look less pristine.

Practical questions
Does a white background prove an item is in good condition?
No. The background is presentation; condition comes from the actual item and evidence. Do not edit away damage or materially change color.
How many photos guarantee a sale?
No count guarantees a sale. Add the views needed to explain this item and follow the actual platform's current image requirements.
